- to start work on your new product and advertisement: you could start designing your product and then choose which one is the best on Monday. Think of the special features it will have and what words you are going to use to describe it. 

The more you do at the weekend then the quicker you can start filming your advert.

To complete geography sheet about where food comes from. Also remember to look at where your toys, food etc comes from and tell the class tomorrow!

Homework 24th February 

The children of Year 5B want to buy the newest product for the classroom. So you need to create an invention and design an advertisement poster for the classroom. The invention must be no bigger than a pencil case. Things to think about:

- what can it do

- name

- what is it made of

- design

Make the posters colourful and think about what you are going to put on them eg- not too many words!

Homework Wednesday/Thursday

- Don't forget spelling test on Friday this week!!

After the holidays we will be looking at persuasive language. I want you to start looking at adverts in magazines, newspapers etc..cut them out and bring them in after the holiday.

You can even start posting links for your favourite adverts on the blog for everyone to see. (just copy and paste the link in the comment box)

Although you should be picking the best adverts, I want you to also find some adverts you really don't like (you must say why). Enjoy!! 

Homework 10th February 

Guided reading work. Think about the book we have been reading this term. Complete 3 of these activities about the book. DON'T post on the blog do the work on A4 pieces of paper so it can go up in the classroom:

- Design a new front cover for the book (try and make it as different front he original, and you can change the title)

-  To create a wanted poster for one of the characters. Why is the character wanted and by who?- don't just say because he is not nice!!

- To create a spider diagram about 3 characters, and use adjectives to describe as much as you can about each of the characters. 

- Describe one of the characters by writing an acrostic poem about them.  

- Draw a map to show where the story is set.

Weekend Homework- Story Writing

You are going to write an adventure story and use what you have learnt from Science this week.

You are going to blast off in a rocket from Earth and you are going to visit 3/4 different planets.

- think about how long it's going to take (you might need a light speed rocket!)

-what the planets are like

- who might you meet there.....think about what creatures/aliens might live there and why. You can make them up but they have to be able to live on a cold/hot planet.

Think of punctuation- capital letter, full stops, paragraphs, connectives, adjectives etc....

Also complete mental maths from Friday if you have it!
