Dear Mr Boardman I think that zoo's are a bad idea because they keep animals in small cages where they barley have room to move around.
In zoo's not only do they put animals in small cages but seperate them from their families. The animals have to stay in their cages all the time and watch people look at them.Zoo's arent always good some zoo's only keep the animals for money.If the people in the zoo don't clean the cages properly the animals might catch a disease and it can spread to the other animals in the zoo.The animals get bored in their cages all alone with nothing to entertain themselves.If the animals are not fed properly they will get hungry and start to die. Besides would you like to be kept in a small cage your whole life looking at people watching you?So after you have read my thoughts about zoo's ı hope you agree with me that zoo's are not a good idea. Do you kow that sometimes zooos are bad for animals? Well if you don't know how bad zoos are for animals I will tell you abou it and think is it zoos are bad .
In my opinion I think zooos are bad because lots of small animals got to stay in the smalll cage and stay there also if they stay there the aanimals will get bored. Do you think it is bad for animals? I think it is. Also did you know that some animals has familes and they someimes get seprate . Also when animals stayes in the cage they won't barely have space to move around. And if you saw an animal in little cages looks sad I think you will feel sad too. And would you like to be in a small cage and people watching you every day? It might can make you mad.
Also if people who works in the zoo don't feed the animal well animals might get really starving . Then tey will get sick. Would you like to see an animal who is sick? I guess that will be sad and people will not come to the zoo when there are no proper animals to see and the zoo will be closed.
Also some animals will ahve diiferent behavier. And some huge animals might attack the other animals cage or some where diifernt animals live at the zoo.

They are also separated from their families to go to different zoos, but the thing that I find most horrifying is Spring, when most babies are born, the zookeepers keep them for the rest of the season, but in the summer they kill them because they can't afford to keep new animals. After reading this I hope you agree that zoos are a bad idea.

There for animals become very restless and aggressive towards humans. The zoo keepers then drug the animal to calm it which is unhealthy for the animal.
Animals born on captivity never learn and experience their natural habitat and the instincts are muted. Therefor when they are realised into the wild they cannot survive because they don't know what to do for food and shelter. They are used to being fed instead of hunting for the food (prey to predators). There for they die of starvation.
I think zoos are a good idea, first of all they are very informative was small children and children learn more about animals. Those people who say that animals in zoos are kept in small cages, they arent that only happens in circuses and stuff like that but not zoos. It also saves animals for being hunted down by poaches. How would you be feel getting shot with a gun just for your skin?Not so good right.
In zoos animals are also fed well and most lion cubs die from starvation when there not even 1 year old in there natural habitat, zoos try to stop this from happening by just keeping them in a smaller place which is better then dieng when you are not even one. Dear Mr. Boardman, In my opinion elephants and animals like cheetahs, leopards and lions shouldn't be stuck all crammed up in zoos. What people see in a zoo is a lot different compared to the free creatures in the wild. It is certain that you would hate to be stuck in a cage, or pointed and stared at through bars or glass. Also thinking about being stuck in a cage means the animal has a limited amount of space. Many animals that have to be in groups suffer from boredom. Social animal have to be in groups to be as natural as possible. But worst of all most animals are kept to earn money not save from extinction. Some zoos still have animals that do unnatural tricks for the public. And some zoos do not have trained vets, so the staffs allow their sick animals to die. Would you like to die if someone doesn’t help you find a doctor? Some zoos open up at Easter with a stock of baby animals. When the summer season finishes, the zoo closes and kills off their stock of animals, as the animals would cost too much to feed. Would you like to be killed if there is no money to feed you? Many zoo visitors do not respect the animals and complain if their favourite animal is resting or can't be seen. There are zoos where the keepers will drag out a resting animal to show the public. Many zoo animals are not fed properly and some zoos still allow people to feed animals with all kinds of unsuitable food. I once seen a boy try to feed a monkey a chewing gum, luckily his mum saw and the monkey didn’t eat it. Most zoos are only for our entertainment and I don't think that it's right. Animals can be really upset that they can't meet their parents anymore. It can be bad for their health because zoo is used to be in a middle of city. When people visit and take a photo, they can feel awful too.
I think we should destroy all the zoos and make a wild zoo like people get on the bus and they can see animals running around in a free area. Also zookeeper should give them a real food not a special food made for them. They should learn how to survive themselves.

People have also been sickened—and some have died—after contracting diseases from animals in petting zoos.
The story of Lucy at the Edmonton Zoo in Canada is an example of the difficult conditions for animals in Zoos. Elephants typically walk up to 30 miles in just one day, but Lucy, the lone elephant at the Edmonton zoo, is locked inside a barn when the zoo is closed and during Edmonton’s cold winter months, which means she spends most of her time indoors, without much room to move. This confinement because of the harsh weather has caused Lucy to develop painful arthritis.
Traveling and roadside zoos can be more cruel. Animals are often kept in cages, such as concrete pens, and in stressful environments, with nothing more than an old tire or a log to play with.
After reading this I hope next time you will not support zoos.
I am really against zoos because animals could be seperated from their family, without the zoo keepers noticing! Would you rather have animals that live a long or a short time, just think, animals also need to spend all of their life on having time to do what they want, just like us! Not getting transported into a small place where so many people are staring at them!!!!! How would you feel if they did that to you?
Zoos might be keeping the animals safe. However, sometimes when animals have thick fur and they are in a place where its very warm, they can get too hot so they could even die!!!! Also I noticed that some animals are chained up, and they can't even move. Believe me, some of the animals can even forget how to hunt and it could be bad for their animal type!
I really think they should close all zoos although we all like to visit zoos sometimes to see all the animals we usually don't see, but it seems like the animals think they are in jail and they must be free!!! By the way did you know that elephants live until 50 years old but in zoos they only live like for 15!

Some of the reasons animals are getting extinct not in the wild but in zoos are climate and food changes.one of the reasons zoos are mostly bad are because in spring the zoos open and the cubs are born and they get more money usually then in winter the zoo closes and they do not have lots of money left to feed all the animals so they kill the cubs. Even sometimes the zoos do not want any cubs so they kill the pregnant animal. They animals are separated from there family.
